Ways to study your bible

Reading the Bible (Without Feeling Overwhelmed)

Many people avoid reading the Bible because it feels overwhelming or difficult to understand. They may not know where to start, what it means, or how to apply it to their life.

However, learning how to study and read the Word does not require perfection or deep knowledge. It is truly a book filled with answers to our questions, the help we need, and the guidance we need to navigate life with the One who paid the price just for you and me. His name is Jesus.

The truth is, we are not starting from empty. There is already freedom, joy, and peace available to us through Him.

In fact… We already have access to it. Free ninety-nine, no hidden fees.

The Bible provides the path to tap into the abundance of freedom, joy, and peace we all seek.

START SIMPLE

The best way to begin is by keeping it simple and realizing you can start anywhere in the Bible.

You do not need to read large sections at once. Even a few verses or even one verse a day can be impactful when you take time to reflect on them.

Instead of rushing through, slow down and really think about what you are reading.

Let me pause for a second and give you food for thought:
Any step you take is still a step forward in your growth journey.

ASK QUESTIONS

Never be afraid to ask questions, whether in conversation with others or when spending time with God.

Asking questions is one of the most important parts of reading your Word.

Here are a few “cheat codes” you can use:

  • What does this mean?

  • Who is this person they are talking about?

  • What does this show me about God?

  • How can I apply this to my life?

These questions help move you from just reading to actually understanding.

Because knowledge is valuable, but let me rephrase it:
knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of His Word and who He is are the keys to life, the gift that keeps on giving.

And honestly, some would say “don’t quote me on this, but…,” but you can definitely quote me on that.

CONSISTENCY IS THE REAL KEY

As the amazing singer Aaliyah once said, “If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.”

And that brings us to the big “C” word: consistency.

That consistency is what leads to real growth.

Reading your Bible daily, writing down your thoughts, spending time with God in prayer, and asking for understanding build a stronger foundation over time. Those consistent habits eventually become a lifestyle.

It is not about knowing everything right away. It is about having a willing and open heart to stay committed and remain teachable.

FINAL THOUGHT

Remember, this amazing book is for all walks of life, no matter where we start. Everyone starts somewhere.

You do not have to have it all figured out to begin. What matters most is just showing up, staying consistent, and letting the Word grow you step by step.
